clinical case
After a general check-up, the patient decided to replace the infiltrated restoration at the level of tooth 36. The request was to restore the endodontically treated tooth without preparing the tooth element for a crown. Therefore, we performed a MOD restoration that included the lingual surface to replace the large incongruent filling. In this clinical case, we will show the “step by step” restoration of tooth 36 using the myQuickmat All-Round system.

1: Pre-operative situation evidencing the large composite restoration with infiltrated margins to be replaced

2:Â Endoral radiograph of the preoperative situation showing the large restoration to be replaced.

3: Isolation of tooth 36 with dam and removal of incongruous restoration at MODL surfaces.

4: After isolating the operative field, a Polydentia All-Around circumferential matrix is placed; for a correct separation of the adjacent teeth and to stabilize the matrix, theWedges were placed mesial and distal.

5:Â Transformation of the MODL cavity into a first-class cavity by reconstructing the mesial, distal and lingual walls.

6: Once the cavity has been transformed into a first class cavity to facilitate modelling without obstacles, we can remove the plastic spool, wedges and continue modelling the cusps with dentin mass composite and enamel. Final Touch Brown/Orange/White pigments were used for pigmentation.

7:Â Final result after removing the matrix. The tooth profile is natural and the contact points strong. We can now proceed with the polishing phase.

8:Â Final result after rubber dam removal.
conclusion
By using Polydentia All-round matrices, we can save even the most compromised teeth that require an inlay or crown with simple composite restorations. In addition, the design of these matrices and the different wedge sizes available allow us to achieve competent contact points that ensure a successful restoration over time.
