clinical case
The patient came to our practice for a routine check-up. An initial analysis revealed a class II carious lesion on 1st and 2nd molars. We decided to eliminate the carious lesions and proceed with a direct composite restoration of the cavities.
The following case study shows the step-by-step restoration procedure using the Polydentia myQuickmat Prime sectional matrix system with integrated wedges.

1: Preoperative view of the 4th quadrant evidencing two carious lesions on 1ยฐ and 2ยฐ molars.

2: The quadrant under isolation with a rubber dam.

3: Preoperative labial view of the carious lesions. Note the different crown heights of the two teeth

4: Clinical situation after removal of the carious lesions, cleaning of the proximal area and disinfection.

5: Clinical situation after the restoration of the 1st molar โ this simple procedure is not object of the present study and therefore not shown.

6: Molar #47 equipped with Quickmat Prime matrix and myRing Prime.

7: Thanks to their โflamingo shapeโ, the integrated wedges of the myTines Prime easily slide interproximally self-centring the system even in the presence of teeth with different crown heights. The bent ring doesnโt interfere with adjacent teeth.

8: The integrated wedges of the myTines Prime separate the teeth and shape the matrix cervically whilst the tines form the matrix very effectively on the proximal walls.

9: Buccal view evidencing the rotation of myTines Prime extremities to adapt the matrix even in case of different tooth morphologies

10: Etching of the cavity.

11: Restoration of the proximal wall on molar #47.

12: Tooth #47 after removal of myRing Prime and Quickmat Prime anatomical sectional matrix.

13: Buccal view of the clinical situation before finishing and polishing showing the natural interproximal curvature with a contact point close to the equator.

14: Shaping and restoration of the occlusal surface.

15: Post-operative image after finishing and polishing.

16: Immediate postoperative image before rubber dam removal.
Lateral view โ note the proper curvature of the proximal contact.

17: Final result before rubber dam removal.

18: Immediate postoperative images after rubber dam removal.

19: Final result.
conclusion
The myQuickmat Prime system simplifies the protocol for Class II posterior restorations making the entire process easier and faster.
The myTines Prime naturally guide insertion and stabilize the myRing Prime making impossible the ring from slipping out.
The integrated wedges of the myTines perfectly fulfil the function of teeth separators (bilateral) and shape the matrix cervically. They donโt make you regret the wedge at all.
The Quickmat Prime matrix with its anatomical curvature cervical to occlusal, design a natural curvature and a contact point close to the equator.

Class II cavity direct restoration on young permanent molar with myQuickmat Forte – Dr Marina Papachroni
Class II (interproximal) decay involves the proximal surface of a posterior tooth and it is a common occurrence in many dental patients. One challenge for the clinician is to accurately recreate a physical contact to the adjacent tooth and, at the same time, to restore proper interproximal anatomic form. This case involves a teenager 16 years old with an interproximal lesion in his left lower molar (#36)....
