case report
A 32 years old patient came to our attention for the replacement of an old class V composite restoration on incisor 21.
In the following case study, we show the step by step composite restoration procedure using the Polydentia Unica anterior matrix.

1: Pre-operative view of incisors 11 and 21 evidencing the old class V composite restoration on #21 which should be replaced. We decided to proceed with the removal of the damaged composite followed by sandblasting, cleaning and disinfection before placing the new composite.

2: The clinical situation after removal of the old restoration, cleaning and disinfection of the cervical area.

3: Unica anterior matrix was placed on incisor 21 and fixed in place using myWedges. The contoured shape of the matrix helps the dentist to identify and visualize the cervical profile before proceeding with the restoration. The anatomically shaped cervical collar allows also for a comfortable access to the operatory field.

4: The clinical situation after composite restoration of the cervical area.

5: Incisor 21 after removal of Unica anterior matrix and wedges.

6: Immediate post-operative situation after rubber dam removal, contouring of the restoration and polishing. The contoured shape of the matrix ensures an accurate reconstruction of the cervical morphology with minimal finishing required.
conclusion
When dealing with aesthetic restorations, an optimal reconstruction of the tooth profile is paramount. In case of Class V restorations, the contoured shape of the matrix helps the dentist identify and visualise the cervical profile before proceeding with the treatment. The anatomically shaped cervical collar allows also for a comfortable access to the operatory field.
