clinical case

The patient came to our attention for the restoration of a fractured molar #37.

The following images show the step-by-step direct restoration procedure using myRing Forte in combination with myTines GO, QuickmatFIT sectional matrices and wooden wedge.

1: Pre-operative situation showing an interproximal fracture on molar #37. As first, pre wedging was performed using a wooden wedge (Macrowedge).

2: The cavity after cleaning and disinfection. We preformed a deep margin elevation with Filtek Bulk Fill Flowable (Restorative Solventum).

3: Sectional matrix system in place: myRing Forte in combination with myTines GO was placed on the teeth before proceeding with the restoration of the mesial wall. After placing, the upper tab of the QuickmatFIT sectional matrix was cut to allow for a complete vision of the operatiry field.

4: Due to the dimension of the cavity, the myTines GO extremities were used; the self centering geometry of the myTines GO allows for a stable positioning even in case of wide preparation and missing cusps; moreover, leaning on the tooth the tooth far from the contact point, the myTines GO don’t “squeeze” the matrix, allowing for a natural, unconstrained contour.

5: Restoration of the mesial wall of molar #37 converting the class II restoration in a class I.
myRing Forte and QuickmatFIT sectional matrix were than removed.

6: The occlusal anatomy was then created following the “Essential lines Technique”.

7: Post-operative view of the restoration, evidencing the natural curvature of the interproximal surface of tooth 37 restored using myTines GO.

conclusion

The new Bulk restorative materials represent an extraordinary evolution in the industry.
Today, we can achieve restorations that once seemed unthinkable, thanks to the extraordinary chemical and physical properties of these innovative materials.
An ideal partner for these new strategies is the recent Polydentia matrices, which enable a more natural restoration profile.
In addition, the myTines GO ring’s extremities offer the possibility of applying the matrix in medium-sized cavities in a completely new way, overcoming the limitations of traditional systems.
All this results in larger restorations in less time.
